The Deadwood showing is located about 4.0 kilometres west of Hastings Arm of Observatory Inlet, just west of Hidden Creek. It is situated about 580 metres west of the Hanna (103P 152) occurrence.

The region is underlain by a roof pendant, consisting of volcanic and sedimentary rocks, within the Eocene Coast Plutonic Complex. These pendant rocks have been correlated with Middle-Upper Jurassic Hazelton Group rocks and overlying upper Middle to Upper Jurassic Bowser Lake Group sedimentary rocks (Geological Survey of Canada Open File 3453). The Hazelton rocks consist of variably chloritized pillow and massive basalt with minor mafic tuffs. The overlying Bowser Lake sediments consist of siltstone and sandstone with minor chert and limestone. This sequence is deformed by a north-northeast trending phase and a subsequent east-northeast trending phase of folding.

The showing occurs as a silicified shear zone formed in a porphyritic andesite that has been altered to a schistose greenstone. The zone outcrops along a ridge at an elevation of 236 metres on the west side of Hidden Creek and has been traced for 460 metres. At the main showing, it is at least 9 metres wide, but narrows to the north. It strikes 018 degrees and dips approximately 45 degrees west. Mineralization consists of pyrrhotite and minor chalcopyrite occurring as veinlets in greenstone, as veinlets in quartz stringers and as sparse disseminations throughout the zone.

A second zone is located east of the main zone at an elevation of 229 metres near the bed of Hidden Creek. It strikes 078 degrees, dips 45 degrees to the west and can be traced for 2.4 metres. This zone occurs in a siliceous greenstone containing pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite. The copper mineralization in this zone is more intense than in the main shear zone.

In 2006, Kenrich-Eskay Mining Corp. completed a program of airborne electromagnetic and magnetic surveys, stream sediment and rock sampling, geological mapping and 50 diamond drill holes, totalling 14275 metres, on the area as the Coastal Copper project. Three holes were completed on the Deadwood occurrence yielding up to 0.65 per cent zinc and 3.5 grams per tonne silver over 14 metres in hole DW06-03 (Harrison, D., McKinley, S. (2007-06-18): Technical Report on the Coastal Copper Project, Anyox Area).
